![]() (edited on: I manually changed it back to what it was under vista = ctrl+shift. You could also try changing your input language properties (r-click on the little icon on the taskbar) and setting English as default. You sure you got that right?Īlso, if you set it to English on the taskbar -before- starting DF, what happens? I'm using Windows 7 Professional, and for me, the combination for switching keyboard layouts is shift+ALT, not ctrl. Setting the language switch shortcut to shift+alt didn't seem to work either. Strangely enough, it DID work the first day I downloaded DF2010, but after that it seems to have stopped working. I am using Windows XP, Slovenian keyboard layout. I've tried to run game in compability(sp?) mode (XP SP3), in vista mode and even run as a administrator. Switching default keyboard layout to English (UK) and rebooting, makes DF use proper english keyboard, so I can use all keys needed to play DF. Still, I'd like to be able to switch keyboard language, not go through remapping all those non-char keys. I solved the problem by remapping the +, -, keys. I have a laptop, so I do not have numpad and DF does not accept estonian version of + and - for some bizarre reason (and I don't have the keys on estonian keyboard either, AFAIK) :( It does not allow to use ctrl+shift combo and "jams" if I try to switch using point-nd-click-on-taskbar(the language switch tool does not open =jams, DF works fine). If I change keyboard current layout manually from Estonian to English, DF will still use the default layout (estonian) what means I cannot use the +- keys and keys. However, it does not work with new DF version. To change keyboard layout, I use ctrl+shift combo. ![]() My default keyboard layout is set on Estonian. I could do the 'switch keyboard language' in 40d19 (last openGL version before df2010). The game just uses English layout, no matter what I set in my OS (Windows 7). I don't use English keyboard either and it works for me. Technical - General => Technical - Input/Keybinding/MacrosĪre you using a different OS since then? You said you "could do it in last version" - was that 40d or a 40d# release? Solution: allow switching keyboard layout if DF is running.īug_revision_view_page.php?bugnote_id=0002590#r844 I use ctrl+shift to change language and could do it in last version.Ĭhanging keyboard to English and then running DF, won't help - only setting keyboard to English and then restarting helps. ![]() My keyboard native setting is Estonian, I cannot switch over to english keyboard layout. Right now Steam release does not have that option.Dwarf Fortress Bug Tracker - Dwarf FortressĠ000780: Native language Keyboard cannot be changed Later on Steam release will also include Adventure mode where you can actually visit pretty much every location, but not as a group that build but as a single adventure in rouge-like mode. Not impossible at all though.Īnd another thing: yes, you can send military squads to different locations and you can start another embark on the same map, but you cannot move your settlement from your chosen embark location. Should be easy enough on CPU but definitely will be weird to play like this. In your case my rough estimation that 2 tiles wide and 11 high should include a bit of plains into it. But you can always do something weird like 2 tiles wide but 10 tiles long embark. I believe that you should be able to increase maximum embark size in settings and increase actual embark size to be big enough to even get that one, but unless you have a REALLY good CPU on your PC, I would advise against increasing it to have more than 30 tiles in it (up to 5圆/6x5). Try to create another world if you are not too attached to current one, or search for another volcano a bit closer to non mountain biome. You might need to search a bit and increase the size of your embark, but even the default size 4x4 is usually more than enough. So far in every world I created there always were more than one volcano that was possible to embark to. Volcano embark is possible as long as you can include non mountain biome into embark location.
